形態特徵

• Undershrubs; stems woody below, erect, ascending or scandent, usually with galls on mid portion of internodes.
• Leaves subequally to quite unequally paired, thick herbaceous to nearly coriaceous, ovate-lanceolate, narrowly elliptic or oblong to lanceolate or oblanceolate, 3-22 cm long, 1.3-6.5 cm wide, apex acute to short caudate, margins serrulate to obscurely serrulate, base acute to rounded, 3-nerved; petioles 0.5-7.0 cm long; stipules free, caducous, narrowly subquadrate, 1.3-2.3 cm long, 0.2-0.5 cm wide, rounded at apex, truncate at base, 2-veined.
• Inflorescences usually cymose-panicles or few-branched, interrupted spikes of glomerules of male flowers, and cymosely arranged glomerules of female flowers; peduncles to 4.5 cm long; mixed Inflorescences present. Male flowers obovoid; sepals 3 or 4, villous along inner margins and near base inside, connate about halfway, valvate, cymbiform, corniculate; stamens 3 or 4, yellow; pistil rudimentary. Female flowers with 3 or 4 sepals, sepals connate at base, somewhat unequal, dimorphic; ovary nearly completely enclosed by sepals, laterally compressed, oblong.
• Achenes laterally compressed, asymmetrical ovoid to widely ovoid.

分布

• 台灣 : in the central, southern and eastern parts of this island, along ravines, in shady and moist forest floors at low to medium altitudes.
