型態特徵
Trees; the wood without vessel; the entire plant glabrous. Leaves spiral, simple, the margin serrate, stipules minute or wanting, palmate- or pinnate-nerved. Flowers disymmetric or actinomorphic, in spikes or raceme-like cyme, bisexual, yellowish; perianths reduced into thin scales or none; stamens 4 or (45-)60-75(85), with basifixed, latrorse anthers, the theca opened by two valves; carpels 4-11, conduplicate, semi-inferior, dorsal part of ovary horizontally extended and nectariferous; stigmas slender, at distal portion of carpel, recurved when receptive; ovary 1-loculed, with 5-30(-40) ovules per ovary. Fruits follicles; seeds small.

型態特徵
Trees; branchlets terete with conspicuous leaf-scars at the nodes and large ovoid buds at apex. Leaves often clustered at apex, the blade coriaceous, serrulate; petioles canaliculate. Inflorescence a raceme-like cyme, terminal at a lateral branch soon appearing axillary. Flowers bisexual, each subtended by a soon caducous bract; perianth absent; pedicels slender, with 2-5 minute caducous bracteoles, at tip swollen into a obconical torus bearing numerous stamens in 3-5 superimposed series; carpels fused laterally with one another and to the torus basally, spreading and gradually outward in development, deeply canaliculate ventrally, the ovary 1-loculed, with anatropus ovules in 2 rows, abruptly narrowed into a style distally, the stigma papillose, dry. Follicetum composed of 7-10 follicles, dehiscing at apex. Seeds slender, ellipsoid, with oily endosperms and minute embryo.
