型態特徵
Trees; leaves spirally arranged, coriaceous, evergreen. Flowers axillary or subterminal, solitary or subracemose; pedicel 2-bracteolate; sepals 5, subequal, connate at base; petals 5, subequal, outer one enveloping the others, shortly connate at base; stamens numerous, adnate to the base of the petals, anthers versatile; ovary mostly 5-celled, with 2–6 pendulous ovules in each cell, style simple, stigma broad, shortly lobed at the top. Capsule woody, depressed globose, loculicidally 5-valved with a persistent columella. Seeds flat, reniform, expanded at the outer edge into a narrow wing.
About 20 species, distributed in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Indochina, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and the Ryukyus. One species with one variety in Taiwan.
