型態特徵
Annual or perennial herbs; stems erect, ascending or prostrate, branched. Leaves opposite, serrate. Flowers solitary or in cymes or racemes, axillary or terminal; calyx tubular, distinctly oblique at apex, more or less bilabiate, tube 5-winged or 5-keeled, bracteoles generally absent; corolla yellow, purple, blue or white, tubular or funnelform, bilabiate, lobes 5, upper 2 lobes outer in bud; stamens 4, didynamous, exserted, anterior filaments often with appendages near base, anthers confluent, 2-celled, cells in line with each other; style simple arising from posterior side of ovary, stigma bilamellate. Capsule enclosed within calyx, septicidally dehiscent, valves 2. Testa of seeds rugose.
About 40 species in the Old World tropics; three species in Taiwan.
