型態特徵
Shrubs or trees, erect or climbing, glabrous or with simple hairs. Leaves alternate, estipulate, simple or compound. Flowers small or minute, hermaphroditic or polygamous, usually panicled. Calyx 4–5-partite, imbricate. Petals 4–5, equal or unequal, opposite or alternate with the sepals, imbricate. Disc usually small, annular. Stamens 4–5, opposite the petals, inserted at the base of or on the disc, all perfect or two only perfect and three without anthers; filaments clavate, flattened or subulate; anthers didymous, the cells distant, bursting transversely or by a deciduous capsule. Ovary 2–3-celled, compressed or 2–3-lobed; styles 2–3, free or connate or 0, the stigmas punctiform; ovules 1–2 in each cell. Fruit drupaceous or dry but not dehiscent. Seeds compressed or globose; testa membranaceous or coriaceous, exalbuminous; embryo various; the cotyledons often contorted.
