型態特徵

Trees, shrubs, rarely herbs, with abundant pellucid glands, filled with essential oils. Leaves opposite or alternate, simple or compound, estipulate. Inflorescence various. Flowers usually regular, hermaphroditic or polygamous; sepals 4–5, free or connate; petals 4–5, rarely none, imbricate or valvate; stamens as many or twice as many as the petals, sometimes fewer or more numerous; disc usually annular or cushion-like, between the ovary and stamens; ovary superior, usually deeply lobed, typically 4–5-loculed, the carpels more or less connate, or free, rarely 1-carpellary; ovules solitary or geminate. Fruit various, separating into as many cocci as carpels or baccate. Seeds usually solitary in each cell, the testa various; endosperm fleshy or 0; embryo straight or curved.

型態特徵

Shrubs or trees, usually spinous. Leaves alternate, unifoliolate, coriaceous, persistent; petioles often winged. flowers axillary, fascicled or in small cymes, sweet-scented; calyx cupular or urceolate, 3–5-fid; petals 4–8, linear-oblong, thick, imbricate; stamens 20–60; filements variously connate, compressed at base; anthers oblong; ovary many-celled; style stout, deciduous; stigma capitate; ovules 4–8, 2-seriate in each cell. Fruit a hesperidium, large, oblong or globose, fleshy, many-loculed, the septa membranaceous, the locules few-seeded and filled with horizonral fusiform cells; seeds horizontal or pendulous, the testa coriaceous or membranaceous.
