型態特徵
Scandent shrubs, rarely erect. Leaves opposite, ovate to oblong; petiolate; stipules usually 2-lobed. Flowers in terminal cymes, unisexual, dioecious or bisexual, heterostyles; corolla tubular or funnelform, 5-lobed, valvate in bud, the lobes linear to lanceolate, one of the lobes usually enlarged into a yellowish-white petaloid segment; male flowers: stamens as many as the lobes, in throat of corolla or below the throat, densely villous, the rudimentary style inserted, much shorter than corolla; female flowers: styles cylindrical or filiform, as long as corolla, stigma 2-lobed, lobes linear or rodform, ovary 2-celled; ovules many in each cell; rudimentary stamens empty, in throat or below. Fruit a berry. Seeds many.
About 100 species in tropical Asia, Africa, Polynesia; two species found in Taiwan.
