型態特徵
Small herbs. Leaves usually membranaceous; stipules entire, persistent or obsolete. Flowers white, in peduncle-cymes or umbels; calyx-tube short, (3-)5(–7)-lobed; corolla rotate, 4–5-lobed, valvate in bud; stamens 4–5, filaments short, anthers large, free, conniving or cohering, erect or declinate, opening by 1–2 terminal pores, rarely longitudinally dehiscent; styles filiform, stigma capitate, ovary 2-cells; ovules many, on projecting placentas. Capsules coriaceous or membranaceous, 2-celled, dehiscing at the apex or by an operculum. Seeds many, minute, angled.
About 100 species in subtropical and tropical Asia; 1 species in Taiwan.
