型態特徵
Usually epiphytes, growing on tree trunks, or moss-covered rocks, some terrestrial; rhizome dictyostelic, usually creeping; scales peltate, often clath rate. Fronds often simple (not lobed), pinnatifid, pinnate or rarely digitately lobed; stipes usually articulate to rhizome; veins anastomosing with included veinlets (venation pattern varies with the genera, often hidden). Sori usually round, oval or linear, and in some genera acrostichoid; exindusiate; peltate, clathrate paraphyses often present.

A large family of mostly tropical ferns, with about 50 genera and over 1,000 species, 17 genera in Taiwan.

型態特徵
Small epiphytes growing on tree trunks or more often on rocks; rhizomes creeping, bearing short phyllopodia to which the stipes are jointed; rhizome scales non-clathrate, peltately attached by a broad base, scales usually lanceolate with a long terminal hair-like tip. Fronds deeply pinnatifid, trifid or lanceolate and often with lanceolate and trifid fronds produced on the same rhizome; margins thickened, often with a notch between each pair of main veins. Sori round, superficial or sunken, in one row on each side of the midrib.
