型態特徵
Usually epiphytes, growing on tree trunks, or moss-covered rocks, some terrestrial; rhizome dictyostelic, usually creeping; scales peltate, often clath rate. Fronds often simple (not lobed), pinnatifid, pinnate or rarely digitately lobed; stipes usually articulate to rhizome; veins anastomosing with included veinlets (venation pattern varies with the genera, often hidden). Sori usually round, oval or linear, and in some genera acrostichoid; exindusiate; peltate, clathrate paraphyses often present.

A large family of mostly tropical ferns, with about 50 genera and over 1,000 species, 17 genera in Taiwan.

型態特徵
Small ferns of fleshy or coriaceous texture, growing on trees or rocks; rhizome creeping, scales entire or fringed not clathrate. Stipes articulate to short phyllopodia; fronds usually simple, rarely palmately or hastately lobed, covered with stellate hairs, especially when young; venation anastomosing, areolae with included veinlets, hidden, lateral veins visible in some species; pitted hydathodes borne on upper surface in some species. Sori round or oval, usually borne on upper half of frond, superficial or somewhat immersed, more or less covered with stellate hairs at least when young.
