型態特徵
Usually epiphytes, growing on tree trunks, or moss-covered rocks, some terrestrial; rhizome dictyostelic, usually creeping; scales peltate, often clath rate. Fronds often simple (not lobed), pinnatifid, pinnate or rarely digitately lobed; stipes usually articulate to rhizome; veins anastomosing with included veinlets (venation pattern varies with the genera, often hidden). Sori usually round, oval or linear, and in some genera acrostichoid; exindusiate; peltate, clathrate paraphyses often present.

A large family of mostly tropical ferns, with about 50 genera and over 1,000 species, 17 genera in Taiwan.

型態特徵
Small ferns growing on moss covered rocks. Rhizome creeping, covered with a moss of hairy roots; scales dark brown, entire, cell walls thick, paralle with long axis of scale. Stipes distant or tufted, not articulate to rhizome; fronds linear to oblanceolate, usually monomorphic, somewhat fleshy; apex usually acute or acuminate, base gradually narrowed to a short stipe; costa prominent, venation hidden, Sori linear, parallel or more often oblique to costa, without peltate paraphyses.
