型態特徵
Usually epiphytes, growing on tree trunks, or moss-covered rocks, some terrestrial; rhizome dictyostelic, usually creeping; scales peltate, often clath rate. Fronds often simple (not lobed), pinnatifid, pinnate or rarely digitately lobed; stipes usually articulate to rhizome; veins anastomosing with included veinlets (venation pattern varies with the genera, often hidden). Sori usually round, oval or linear, and in some genera acrostichoid; exindusiate; peltate, clathrate paraphyses often present.

A large family of mostly tropical ferns, with about 50 genera and over 1,000 species, 17 genera in Taiwan.

型態特徵
Rhizomes widely creeping, thick, covered with lanceolate attenuate, yellowish, non-clathrate, peltate scales. Fronds pinnate with a few pairs of lateral pinnae, margins entire, usually sessile, articulate to rachis, terminal pinna similar to lateral; lateral veins distinct, reticulate venation hidden, areolae with included forking veinlets; stipes distant, articulate to short podophylla. Sori round, brown, without paraphyses, borne singly or in rows between the lateral main veins.
