型態特徵

Erect perennial herbs with a short rhizome. Leaves densely rosulate, 2-ranked, linear, sheathing at base; sheaths equitant. Spikes elongate, wooly, simple or branched. Inflorescences erect, simple, with a few short leaves at nodes. Flowers bisexual, zygomorphic, solitary in axil of bracts. Perianth segments 4 in 2 series, outer 2 larger than inner 2. Stamen 1, inserted at base of larger anterior perianth segment; anthers 2-celled, coiled; filaments flattened. Ovary superior, 3-locular, placentas 3, parietal; ovules numerous; styles simple. Capsules longitudinally dehiscent by 3 valves. Seeds numerous; embryo straight.
