型態特徵
Herbs with acid juice. Leaves simple, alternate or even pinnate; leaflets obcordate, obliquely oblong or depressed-obtriangular, stipulate. Flowers bisexual, solitary or in umbellate cymes, actinomorphic or cleistogamous; sepals 5; petals 5, white, whitish-yellow or rose-purple, contorted in bud; stamens 10–15; ovary 5-locular, 5-lobed; styles free or connate; ovules one to several in each locule. Capsules cylindric-globose, loculicidally dehiscent; seeds sometimes arillate; embryo erect, in a fleshy endosperm.

About five genera with more than 300 species, chiefly in the tropics and subtropics; two genera and four species in Taiwan.

型態特徵
Small annual herbs with simple or branched stems. Leaves abruptly pinnate, crowded at the top of the stem; leaflets opposite; petioles swollen at the base. Flowers umbellate, small, yellow; peduncles terminal; sepals 5, lanceolate, acuminate; petals 5; stamens 10, the filament free, the outer 5 smaller. Capsules ovoid to oblong, loculicidally dehiscent.
