型態特徵
A small family of mostly tropical ferns; rhizomes scandent, or long-creeping, scaly, fronds distant, articulate to phyllopodia; or the caudex short, erect, sending out a mass of fibrous roots and long, slender stolons (rhizomes), stipes tufted, stout, non-articulate. Fronds simple or pinnate; pinnae articulate to rachis, often caducous; venation free, once or twice forked. Sori round, dorsal or submarginal, borne on the end of a veinlet; indusia round or reniform, sinus usually narrow.

型態特徵
Epiphytes; rhizome dictyostelic, scandent, densely covered with imbricating scales, attached by broad bases. Stipes tufted or distant, containing 3 vascular bundles, attached to phyllopodia; fronds simple, entire, margins often ciliate when young; venation simple, ending in hydathodes which do not reach the margin. Sori round, in one row on either side of midrib; indusia reniform.
