型態特徵
Shrubs or trees, pubescent or glabrous. Leaves entire or lobed. Flowers large, axillary, solitary or in racemes; epicalyx-segments 3–6, free, deciduous; calyx usually ligneous, cupular, persistent; corolla large, showy, yellow, with a dark purple center; staminal tube 5-toothed; ovary 5- or 10-celled, the style club-shaped, 5-sulcate. Capsules with a thick woody pericarp.
About 15 species in the Tropics of both hemispheres, one species in Taiwan.
