型態特徵
Herbs or suffruticose plants, covered with septate hairs, stems square. Leaves petiolate, blade ovate to rhomboid, the base cuneate, rounded to truncate, apex obtuse or acute, margins serrate or crenate. Inflorescences verticillate cymes, often forming loose terminal racemes; bracteoles ovate. Flowers pedicellate; calyx tubular, or campanulate, bilabiate, upper lip broadly ovate, lower lip 4-toothed; corolla tubular, bilabiate, upper lip 3-lobed, lower lip concave; stamens 4, didynamous, included or long-exserted; anthers 2-celled, confluent; stigma bifid. Nutlets spherical to ovoid, smooth to slightly reticulate.
About 40 species, in tropics of the Old World; one cultivated species in Taiwan.
