型態特徵
Herbs or suffruticose plants, covered with septate hairs; stems branched. Leaves petiolate; petioles glabrous or pubescent; blades elliptic to ovate, base cuneate, obtuse or rounded, apex acuminate acute or rounded, margins entire or serrate. Inflorescences verticillate cymes, in racemes or panicles, axillary and terminal; bracteoles elliptic to broadly ovate. Flowers pedicellate; calyx campanulate, bilabiate, upper lip large, broadly ovate lower lip 4-toothed; corolla tubular or camapnu-late, bilabiate, upper lip 4-lobed, lower lip concave; stamens 4, anthers 2-celled, confluent; stigma bifid. Nutlets ovoid or ellipsoid, reticulate or smooth.
About 100 species, distributed throughout the tropics; three species cultivated in Taiwan.
