Herbs, erect or procumbent, covered with septate hairs. Leaves petiolate; blades elliptic to ovate, base cuneate, obtuse or subtruncate, apex acute, margins serrate. Inflorescences in verticillate cymes, forming loose terminal or axillary racemes. Flowers pedicellate; calyx campanulate, often persistent in fruit, tubular, bilabiate, lower lip ovate, entire, upper lip cymbiform, corolla tubular, bilabiate, upper lip 3-lobed, lower lip cymbiform, spreading; stamens 4, didynamous; stigma bifid.
