型態特徵
Erect herbs or suffruticose; stem stout. Leaves petiolate; blades ovate to cordate. Inflorescences of verticillate cymes forming terminal racemes or panicles; bracteoles ovate to linear. Flowers pedicellate; calyx tubular-campanulate, 15-nerved, 5-toothed, slightly bilabiate, upper lip 3-toothed, lower lip 2-toothed; corolla tubular, limb bilabiate, as long as or longer than calyx, broadened at mouth, upper lip emarginate or bifid, lower lip 3-lobed, spreading, middle lobe broadly ovate, undulate, lateral lobes ovate; stamens 4, didynamous, sometimes exserted, anthers 2-celled, parallel or divergent; stigma bifid. Nutlets ellipsoid to obovoid.
About eight species, distributed in eastern Asia and North America; one in Taiwan.
