型態特徵

Perennial herbs, with an erect herbaceous or tuberous rhizome. Leaves radical, often hairy. Flowers in terminal spikes or head-like racemes, actinomorphic, each in axil of a persistent bract; perianth segments free or nearly so; stamens 6; filaments short, free; anthers inserted in a basal cleft, 2-celled, cells dehiscing longitudinally; ovary hypogynous, 3-celled; stigmas 3, erect or decurrent; ovules many. Fruit a capsule or berry; seeds small, globose.

屬

Five genera in tropical to temperate America, Africa, Australia, Malesia, the Philippines and Japan. Two genera in Taiwan.
