型態特徵
Submersed freshwater herbs. Stems inconspicuous. Leaves radical, petiolate, blade linear, spatulate, lanceolate, ovate or cordiform, green or dark green, with 5-9 parallel veins, margin entire, apex obtuse or apiculate; petiole sheathing at whitish base. Spathes stalked, cylindrical, apex trifid. Flower solitary, pedicellate, bisexual; sepals 3, elliptic, light green or green, persistent; petals 3, obovate, colored; stamens 3-15; anthers narrowly oblong, laterally dehiscent; filaments linear, flattened; carpels 3; styles 3, each with 2 or 3 unequal stigmas. Fruit oblong, included in spathe. Seeds numerous, small, hairy.
About 40 species in the tropics and subtropics; one species in Taiwan.
