型態特徵
Suffruticose herbs. Leaves alternate, deeply serrate, estipulate. Flowers small, laxly corymbose, the outer ones sterile with the calyx-limb enlarged into 2–3 petaloid lobes; calyx-tubes adnate the ovary, globose, the lobes 4–5, valvate; petals 5, valvate; stamens numerous, the filaments filiform; anthers obcordate, basifixed, the connectives often dilated; ovary inferior, incompletely 3-celled; styles 3, shortly subconical, the stigmas ovate; ovules numerous, attached to the placenta, inflexed. Capsules ovoid, longitudinally dehiscent above, many-seeded; seeds small, oblong, compressed, the testa reticulate, produced into wings at both ends; embryo small.
