型態特徵
Perennials. Leaf blade linear or lanceolate; ligule membranaceous, short or well-developed; glabrous, hygrophilous. Inflorescence a panicle, composed of slender, spike-like recemes, or consisting of only one raceme; racemes racemosely arranged on all sides of central axis, simple, strongly compressed peduncled, ending in setaceous tips. Spikelets solitary, abaxial, alternate, spaced, shortly pedicellate, lanceolate, terete or slightly dorsally compressed, acute, 2-flowered; lower glume small, hyaline, veinless, abaxial; upper glume and lower lemma slightly shorter, flat, with inflexed margins; lower palea present. Rachilla-internode between lemmas stipe-like; upper lemma smaller, acute, thinly membranaceous, hyaline; stamens 3, rudimentary or totally absent; ovary oblong, style 2, shortly fused at base, stigma feathery.
About six species distributed in India, China, Japan and extending to Australia; one species in Taiwan.
