型態特徵

Deciduous trees or shrubs. Leaves alternate, petiolate, ovate, serrate; stipules deciduous. Inflorescence axillary, cymose. Flowers monoecious; calyx 4 lobed, the lobes erect, remotely apart, lanceolate; petals 4, erect, valvate or the margins imbricate, lanceolate to deltoid; stamens 4, inserted on the margins of the disc, the filaments filiform; disc in male flowers flat, cupular, in female flowers annular; ovary ovoid, slightly confluent with the disc, 4 celled, the ovule 1 in each locule, the style short or elongate, the stigma 2 lobed. Fruit a berry, but not fleshy, 4 lobed; seeds 4.
