型態特徵
Terrestrial; rhizome slender, creeping or erect, solenostelic or rarely dictyostelic, clothed with hairs or mixed narrow scales. Fronds pinnate to pinnately decompound, not articulate to rhizome; veins free or anastomosing without included free veinlets. Sori terminal on the veins, with a up-shaped or 2-lipped indusium, or the lower lip lacking, or the other continuous along the margin and on the connecting-vein, protected by the reflexed margin or with double indusium; spopangia developing in gradate or mixed sequence, with almost vertical annulus. Spores tetrahedral or rarely bilateral.

A family of about 15 genera and 300 species, mainly tropical in distribution; seven genera and 24 species in Taiwan.

型態特徵
Rhizome long-creeping, solenostelic, clothed with narrow scales. Fronds usually very large and of indefinite length; pinnae always opposite, pinnate or bipinnate, with a reduced pair of stipule-like basal pinnules, firm to coriaceous, glabrous and often glaucous; veins anastomosing, without included free veinlets. Sori linear, submarginal, continuous along the margin, on a marginal connecting-vein, protected by a scarious reflexed false indusium; annulus of 14-17 thickened cells. Spores bilateral, tuberculate.
