型態特徵
Deciduous, rarely evergreen shrubs, usually scandent. Leaves alternate, petiolate, entire or serrate, the stipules small. Flowers solitary or in cymes or panicles, axillary or terminal, hermaphroditic, sometimes unisexual; calyx 5 lobed; petals 5, inserted under the disc; stamens 5, with short fila¬ments; disc cupular, concave, entire or crenate; ovary superior, 3–4 celled, the style short, the stigma 3–4 lobed; ovules 2 in each cell. Fruit a capsule, usually yellowish, dehiscent into 3–4 valves; seeds arillate, the endosperm copious.
About 31 species in tropical Asia, Australia and North America, 4 species in Taiwan.
