型態特徵
Aquatic perennial herbs; rhizomes slender, elongate, branching, with gelatinous sheath. Leaves simple, alternate, petiolate, submersed or floating, dimorphic, floating blades elliptic, peltate, margings entire, submersed blades finely palmately dissected. Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, typically emergent, solitary, axillary, pedunculate; sepals 3, petaloid; petals 3; stamens 3-many; carpels 2–18, apocarpous, 1-locular, stigma nearly sessile; ovules 2–3, parietal, anatropous. Fruit aggregate with leathery pericarp, indehiscent, 1–3-seeded; seeds with endosperm.

Two genera with about six species, widely distributed. Two genus in Taiwan.

Aquatic herbs with creeping gelatinous-sheathed rhizomes. Leaves elliptic, peltate, mostly with gelatinous layer beneath; petioles elongate, slender, with gelatinous sheath. Flowers small, purple, axillary; sepals 3; petals 3; stamens 12–30; carpels free, 4–20. Fruit aggregate, achene-like, 1–2-seeded.
