型態特徵
Herbs. Leaves petiolate. Flowers in racemes, these simple or paniculate in a dense terminal subsessile head; bracts and bracteoles, shorter than calyx. Flowers solitary, opposite; calyx-segments 5, nearly free, equal; corolla tube very long and narrow, widened apically, ventricose, segments 5, subequal, patent, imbricate in bud; stamens 4, inserted on the widened part of the corolla-tube, didynamous, included, filaments basally pairwise connate; anthers oblong, cells at the same or slightly unequal levels; ovary 4-ovulate; stigma subcapitate. Capsule clavate, base contracted, solid; seeds 4, orbicular, compressed, tuberculate-rugose.
Three species in the Old World; one in Taiwan.
