Entodon Buckii, A New Species of Moss from Kiang-Si Province, China

Abstract
Entodon buckii is described as a new species from Kuling, Kiang-si Province, China. It is characterized by pseudodistichous phyllotaxy of branches with asymmetrically conduplicate leaves. The alar groups of leaves are extremely distinct and broadly extending to costa. The young capsules are exserted on smooth, yellowish setae; and are covered with cylindrical smooth calpytrae. A comparison table of the new species and its two closely related species, E. macropodus and E. challengeri, is given. The difference and superficial resemblance between E. buckii and Horikawfaea are also discussed.
巴克絹苔隸屬絹苔科,其體形及葉序酷似蕨苔科之波瑟苔屬(Pursellia—由堀川苔屬,Horikawaea,新進分出的一屬)。此新種曾被誤認為堀川苔屬之植物,但經分析比對後.,發現兩者在配子體及孢子體之特徵均?然不同,實不能混?一談。在絹苔屬中,本種與直紋絹苔(Entodon macrofiodus)及伽倫絹苔E. challengeri )最為相似,但直紋絹苔之葉基急速變窄,葉翼區不達中助,而此新種之葉基?逐漸變窄,葉翼區延伸至中肋;伽倫絹苔之配子體及孢子體均較巴克絹苔?大,而前者之葉呈凹形,蒴柄?紅色,反之後者之葉呈對折形,蒴柄(孢子體?未成熟)?淡黃色。巴克絹苔之植物體甚小,強扁平被葉之莖及枝之寬度均不超過2毫米;葉強對折,彼此緊密跨疊,使葉序呈明顯的假二列;葉基漸窄;葉角細胞方形、多數,延伸至中肋;葉細胞極窄;朔柄(幼時)淡黃色;產於中國江西省九江、鄱陽湖及盧山附近之牯嶺,海拔1200公尺,著生於楊屬植物之樹幹上。

Abstract
A general anatomical structure of the vegetative plant body has been studied in Kandelia candel (L.) Druce. Both root and stem occupied xeric as well as mesic habits in histology in an individual plant and even in the same organ. No starch granules were found in the root cap cells. The root cortex is occupied by the typical aerenchyma but the central stele in root consists of a large amount of the sclerified cells. It produces a vast volume of phelloderm in the larger stems. Most cells in phelloderm and the secondary phloem both of which form the most part of the inner bark contain tannin substance. The phelloderm becomes aerenchymatous in the later stage of developinent. Based on its peculiar anatomical structure, the ecological adaptive potential in this plant has also been discussed briefly.
就生長於淡水河邊之水筆仔〔Kandelia candel(L)Druce〕營養世代之植物體,做一廣泛的組織觀察。根冠內檢不出澱粉粒之存在。根部皮層為細胞 排列非常疏鬆之通氣組織,但中心柱內側則厚壁化細胞多,排列緊密。莖部之周皮發達,且於生長後期產生大量的栓皮細胞。栓皮層和次生軔皮部為含單寧質最多之 組織。換言之,即內樹皮之細胞單寧質之含量最多。較老化之栓皮層演變為通氣組織。葉片呈旱生習性型,但栽培於淡水中之葉片則轉為中生習性型之組織形態。整株植物體之組織構造,部份呈水生習性特性而另部份則呈旱生或中生習性型特徵。

Abstract
Three species of bird's nest fungi belonging to the Nidulariaceae were identified and illustrated as new to Taiwan. They are namely: Cyathus limbatus Tul, Cyathus montagnei Tul, and Cyathus stercoreus De Toni. The peridia of C. limbatus and C. montagnei are distinctly plicate inside and outside. The ridges of C. limbatus are wider apart from 0.75 to 1 mm than in C. montagei (0.44mm), and while the peridia of C. stercoreus is not plicate.
三種鳥巢菌分別被採獲並鑑定為條紋鳥巢菌(Cyathus Limbatus Tul.) 、糞生鳥巢菌(Cynthus stercoreus De Toni)及孟塔鳥巢菌(Cyathus montagnei Tul.)。前二者是在花圃及菜園中採得,後者在山區採得。形態特徵為;條紋鳥巢菌及孟塔氏鳥巢菌的護膜上有縱列溝紋, 糞生鳥巢菌之護膜平滑不具溝紋;但條約鳥巢菌之溝脊間相距0.75 至1毫米,而孟塔氏鳥巢菌之溝脊間相距 平均0.44 毫米,此為兩者間最大之區分。本篇報告主要利用顯微相片闡述三種鳥巢菌形態構造之特徵,並以徒手繪圖以歸納比較其各部份構造。

Abstract
Recently the senior author made a small bryophytic collection from the western part of the Southern-Cross-Island Highway, Taoyuan Hsiang, Kaohsiung Hsien, December 19, 1982, and from Sanchiaonan Shan among the Tsengwen Dam, Chiai Farm and Tapu, Tapu Hsiang, Chiai Hsien, March 6, 1983. The specimens have been deposited in the private herbarium of the senior author and the herbarium of Tunghai University. In the following list, the numbers in parentheses refer to the counties from which the bryophytes were collected and identified: (1) Kaohsiung Hsien, (2) Chiai Hsien.
初步調查高雄縣南橫公路附近及嘉義縣會文水庫三腳南山一帶之苔蘚植物計有睫毛麟(Blepharosforma tricleoplayllarra)等二十五種。
