形態特徵

• Perennial with slender stolons often terminated by a small tuber.
• Culms tufted, erect, 30-70 cm tall, 2.5-4 mm thick, sharply triquetrous with flat or shallowly concave sides, light green, soft. Basal sheaths 3 or 4, lower ones scale like, brown, uppermost ones 5-10 cm long, pale green, obliquely truncate at orifice.
• Spikelet cylindrical, 2-4 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, subacute at apex, subterete, loosely many-flowered, pale green. Glumes broadly ovate, 4-5 mm long, rounded at apex, broadly green dorsal part herbaceous and obscurely several-nerved, margins narrowly hyaline.
• Achenes broadly obovate, 1.5-2 mm long, compressed-triangular, yellowish brown, cancellated with several rows of transversely rectangular epidermal cells; style 6-7 mm long, 3-cleft to below middle, base subulate-deltoid, constricted at base, ca. half as wide as achene. Hypogynous bristles 6, surpassing style-base, rather rigid, retrorsely spinulose-scabrous.

• 台灣 : In shallow stagnant water in ponds, marshes or rice fields.
• 世界 : Tropics of Asia, Malesia, northern Australia and the Americas.
