形態特徵

• Annual herbs, plants villose, 20–30 cm tall. Stem a short, stout rhizome with numerous adventitious fibrous roots.
• Leaves numerous, in a more or less erect to spreading rossette; petiole shorter than blade; blade oblanceolate to oblong-oblanceolate, 8–15 cm long, 1.5–3 cm wide, shallowly dentate, veins 3–5.
• Scapes 4–6, to 30 cm long. Spikes to 12 cm long, 4–6 mm wide; bracts oblong lanceolate, hairy, 1.6 mm long, 0.4 mm wide; Flowers many, clustered in spikes; sepals 4, ovoid or ellipsoid, 1.8 mm long, 1 mm wide, midrib greenish, hairy; corolla tubular, unexpaded, ca. 3.2 mm long, 4-lobed, segments 2.7 mm long, 0.7 mm wide; stamens 4, exserted from corolla tube, alternate corolla segments, 1 mm long; pistil 1, 4 mm long, style slender, villose, extending beyond corolla tube; ovary depressed ovoid, 1 mm long, green, glabrous.
• Capsule ovoid, 1.6 mm long, 1.0 mm wide. Seeds 2, concave, oblong, concave, 1.0 mm long, 0.5 mm wide, blackish brown.

物候

flowering April to June.

分布

• 台灣 : Sunny grasslands in lowlands in Taiwan.
• 世界 : Endemic to North America, naturalized in Japan, the Ryukyus and Taiwan.
