形態特徵

  • Suffruticose perennial herbs, to 1 m long; stems slender, procumbent, tufted, puberulent.
  • Leaves coriaceous, petiolate; petioles puberulent, 2–5(–8) mm long; blade ovate to triangular-ovate, (0.5-)2–3.5 cm long, (0.4-)1.5–2.5 cm wide, apex obtuse, base narrowly cordate, margins crenate, upper surface glabrous, veinlets sunken, lower surface puberulent or glabrous, covered with glandular dots.
  • Inflorescences axillary and terminal racemes, 3–8 cm long; flowers opposite; bracts cuneate-rhomboid. Pollen grains 3-colpate, subprolate, isopolar, 18–22×14–17 μm, tectum loose reticulate to rugulate with microperforae.
  • Nutlets orbicular, 0.9×0.8 mm, nutlet coat with grappling-hook tubercles; hilum lateral.
  • Chromosome number 2n = 26. <li>Although there is some variation among the disjunct populations of this species, observations of the living plants and study of a large number of herbarium specimens indicates that the varieties previously recognized are not distinct with reference to the floral morphology, pollen structure, and seed morphology.</li>
