形態特徵

Shrubs; stems tetragonal, mostly armed with prickles, minutely pubescent or hirsute.
Leaves chartaceous, ovate to oblong-ovate, 4–7 cm long, 2.5–4 cm wide, apex acute or short acuminate, base cuneate or subcordate, margin serrate, scabrous or scabrellous on upper surface, pilosulous on lower surface.
Inflorescence capitate, axillary, long pedunculate, puberulous; bracteoles linear, 3–6 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, glabrous on upper surface, puberulous on lower surface. Flowers many; calyx thin, ca. 1.5 mm long, truncate or slightly toothed, margin ciliate, slightly puberulous outside; corolla mostly opening yellow turning to rose, pink, orange, orange-yellow or red, 6–8 mm long, puberulous outside.
Drupe globose, purple or black.

分布

台灣 : widely naturalized in lowlands.
世界 : Probably native to the West Indies, now widely distributed in many tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
