A deciduous tree, up to 10 m high.
Leaves chartaceous, obovate to oblong or narrowly oblong with an acuminate apex, 5–10 cm long, usually glabrous on both sides, with ascending minute teeth, the petioles 10–25 mm long. Racemes 5–10 cm long, puberulent, the pedicel 3–5 mm long, densely puberulent;
Flowers white, about 5 mm across; calyx persistent, the teeth short, broadly ovate; petals broadly obovate, 2–3 mm long.
Fruits ovoid, 6–7 mm long, 8 mm across, black.
