A small deciduous tree.
Leaves subcoriaceous or chartaceous, obovate or obovate-oblong, 6–11 cm long, 2–3.5 cm wide, acute or acuminate, cuneate at base, serrulate but entire toward the base, shinning and glabrous above, glabrous or glabrescent beneath, the primary veins 7–8 per side; petioles 6–8 mm long.
Inflorescence corymbose, pubescent when young, nearly glabrous at length; pedicels slender, up to 1.5 cm long, with a pair of subulate bracts at base; calyx-tube campanulate, 5-lobed, the lobes broadly triangular, glabrous; petals white, clawed and villose at base, broadly obovate; stamens 15–20; styles 2.
Drupes obovate, 5–10 mm in diameter, with persistent calyx at apex, blackish-red when ripe.(seed 3.08-6.15*1.15-2.31mm)
