Small Evergreen trees; trunk 4 m tall; branchlets pubescent; buds elliptic-oblong, acute at apex, obtuse at base, scales brownish-pubescent.
Leaves alternate, lanceolate to oblong, 7-9 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm broad, slightly lustrous above, glaucous and yellow-gray appressed pubescent beneath, glabrous when young, thinly coriaceous, acute rarely acuminate at apex, acute to acuminate at base, with 3 main veins, midrib flattened above, elevated beneath, lateral veins 4-5 pairs, veinlets subparallel, flattened to somewhat elevated beneath; petioles 0.5-1.2 cm long, brownish-puberulent.
Inflorescences globose in buds, sessile, solitary to 4-5 clustered, axillary or lateral; involucral bracts 4-5, elliptic, puberulent outside, caducous; flowers red; staminate flowers with receptacle broadly campanulate, tomentose out-side; tepals 4, broadly elliptic, 3 mm long, slightly tomentose outside, glabrous inside; fertile stamens 6, filaments 4 mm long, hirsute at base, 3rd whorl of stamens with glands, anthers oblong, 1.5 mm long, 4-celled; reduced ovary densely hirsute; pistillate flowers with styles long and fine-hairy;
