Perennial herbs; stems terete, decumbent, densely strigillose.
Leaves chartaceous, scabrous above, densely hirtellous, asymmetrically obovate or oblong-obovate, 9-25 mm long, 5-11 mm wide, basiscopic half acute to obtuse, margins ciliolate, basiscopic half 1-4-serrate acroscopic half 3-5-serrate, entire ca. halfway to base, apex acute, ciliolate; stipules 2, persistent, ciliolate, glabrous above, hirtellous beneath, narrowly triangular.
Female inflorescences sessile or subsessile, brownish with deep brown dots in fruit, densely puberulent outside, elliptic-discoid; bracts densely puberulent, incompletely connate into a narrowly elliptic involucre. Female flowers short pedicellate; bracteoles semitransparent, narrowly oblong-cymbiform, puberulent beneath; sepals rudimentary; staminodes 3 or 4; ovary ovoid.
Achenes ovoid, with 8 winglike ribs.
