    Leaves linear or narrowly lanceolate, 6-10 mm long, 1.2-1.6 mm wide, base cuneate, margin entire,
    apex acute or obtuse.
    India, Sri Lanka through Indochina to the south China Sea. Taiwan, in the south.
    PINGTUNG: Tungkang, Anonymous, without further information.

    Leaves oblong-elliptic, 0.8-2.3 cm long, 2.5-5.5 mm wide, base cuneate, margin finely serrulate,
    apex obtuse or rounded, pubescent on both surfaces, cross veins 5-9 pairs.

    Leaves ovate elliptic or oblong, entire, apex rounded, 1.1-1.9 cm long, 6-10 mm wide, with 7-15
    cross veinlets.
    India, Java, Malaysia and the Philippines, northeastward to Japan and China.

    Submersed dioecious freshwater herbs. Stems terete, elongate. Leaves 3-6 per whorl, sessile, linear,
    serrate. Flowers unisexual. Staminate spathes solitary, axillary, each enclosing a single flower. Staminate
    flowers short pedicellate, globose, liberated from spathe and floating to water surface at anthesis;
    sepals 3, broadly ovate, convex; stamens 3, opposite sepals; anthers stalked, laterally dehiscent. Pistillate
    spathes cylindrical, solitary, axillary, sessile. Pistillate flowers pedicellate; sepals 3; petals 3, shorter
    and narrower than sepals; ovary inferior, cylindrical, with a filiform beak; stigmas 3. Fruit cylindrical.
    Seeds 1-3, ellipsoid.
    Species 2, Eurasia, Africa, India, Malaysia and Australia. One species in Taiwan.

    Leaves linear, 1-1.5 cm long, 1-3 mm wide, sessile, margin serrulate, apex acuminate, with a minute
    spine, with 2 axillary scales. Staminate spathes subglobose, ca. 1.7 mm long, 1.2 mm wide, short
    stalked. Staminate flowers: sepals broadly ovate, 1.2-1.3 mm long, 1.1-1.2 mm wide, hyaline, prominently
    convex; petals linear, ca. 1.1 mm long; stamens 3, anthers 2-celled, stalked. Pistillate flowers
    with a long pedicel; sepals spatulate, 1.8-2.2 mm long, 0.8-0.9 mm wide, with brownish dots; petals narrowly
    spatulate, hyaline, 1.7-2 mm long, 0.5-0.8 mm wide; ovary beaked; stigmas opposite petals. Fruit
    softly echinate. Seeds acute at both ends, ca. 5 mm long, glabrous.
    Australia, Java, Borneo, Malaysia, the Philippines, northeastward to Japan and mainland China.
    Taiwan, submersed in ponds and running water throughout the island.
