    calyx 5-dentate; corolla lobes 4-5, greenish white, ovate, 3-6 mm long, reflexed; anthers exserted, already empty in anthesis; disk annular; drupe transversely ovoid, ca. 8 mm long, 10 mm wide, orangish yellow.

    Philippines. Taiwan, in Lanyu and Lutao only, scatter within the forests on the mountain ridges.

    Shrubs or small trees. Leaves opposite or whorled, penninerved, petiolate; stipules interpetiolar, entire. Flowers in terminal or axillary dense globose heads, bisexual; calyx tubular, 4-5-dentate or lobed; corolla funnelform, greenish or white, hairy or glabrous on the throat; lobes 4, imbricate, erect or spreading; stamens inserted in throat, filaments short; ovary 2-celled, ovule 1 per cell, style filiform, exserted, stigma capitate or clavate; fruit an indehiscent 1-seeded cocci; seeds usually arillate.

    About 6 species in tropical and subtropical areas; 1 species in Taiwan.

    A small shrub up to 2.5 m high; branches glabrous. Leaves thin coriaceous, oblong to oblong-ovate, 8-12 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, apex acute, base obtuse to subcordate, margin entire, slightly undulate, glabrous above, pubescent below; petioles 8-12 mm long; stipules deltate, black-glandular. Flowers in globose heads, forming a terminal or axillary panicle; calyx 5-dentate, ca. 3 mm long, pubescent inside; corolla white, ca. 9 mm long, pubescent inside; stamens included; style ca. 15 mm long, stigma capitate; bracteoles 4, linear-lanceolate, as long as calyx. Fruit an indehiscent 1-seeded cocci; seeds white arillate.

    S. Asia and N. America. Taiwan, at low elevations in the north.

    Lianas. Leaves opposite, penninerved, petiolate; stipules interpetiolar, entire. Flowers axillary and solitary in the upper leaf axils, or in terminal paniculate cymes, bisexual; calyx campanulate or tubular, 5-dentate; corolla funnelform, white, hairy inside; lobes 5, contorted, spreading or reflexed; stamens 5, inserted in throat, filaments short, anthers pilose, sagittate, exserted; ovary 2-celled, ovule numerous per cell, style filiform, exserted, upper part thickened, stigma capitate; fruit a capsule, loculicidal with 2 valves; seeds ribbed or winged.

    About 13 species in eastern Asia; 1 species in Taiwan.
