     58. OXALIDACEAE 酢漿草科
    HUANG, TSENG-CHIENG and LIU, TANG-SHUI

    Herbs with acid juice. Leaves simple, alternate or even pinnate; leaflets obcordate, obliquely oblong or depressed-obtriangular, stipulate. Flowers bisexual, solitary or in umbellate cymes, actinomorphic or cleistogamous; sepals 5; petals 5, white, whitish-yellow or rose-purple, contorted in bud; stamens 10-15; ovary 5-locular, 5-lobed; styles free or connate; ovules one to several in each locule. Capsules cylindric-globose, loculicidally dehiscent; seeds sometimes arillate; embryo erect, in a fleshy endosperm.
    About five genera with more than 300 species, chiefly in the tropics and subtropics; two genera and four species in Taiwan.

    1. BIOPHYTUM DC. 羞禮花屬

    Small annual herbs with simple or branched stems. Leaves abruptly pinnate, crowded at the top of the stem; leaflets opposite; petioles swollen at the base. Flowers umbellate, small, yellow; peduncles terminal; sepals 5, lanceolate, acuminate; petals 5; stamens 10, the filament free, the outer 5 smaller. Capsules ovoid to oblong, loculicidally dehiscent.
    Species about 20 in the tropical regions of the world, only one species in Taiwan.

    A very graceful herb, about 30 cm high. Stem hairy. Leaves gathered on the top of the stem, abruptly pinnate, 6-9 cm long; petiole densely hairy; leaflets 18-30 in each leaf, obliquely oblong, glabrous, about 1 cm long; inflorescens head with a long peduncle; peduncle about 2 cm long, mingled with long hairs and glandular hair; bract ovate, 2 mm long, hairy. Flowers yellow, sepals 5, lanceolate, 4 mm long, hairy outside; petals 5 mm long; stamens 10; filaments 5 long and 5 short, the longer hairy; anthers dorsifixed; pistil with 5 carpels, style and stigma free. Fruit capsule. Seeds brown.

    Herbs, erect or creeping. Leaves simple, radical or on nodes; leaflets simple, ternate, obcordate or depressed-triangular, stipulate. Flowers one to several, long-pedunculate, with two bracteoles on the base of pedicels. Capsules locucidally dehiscent.
