     18. OLEANDRACEAE 蓧蕨科
    SHIEH, WANG-CHUENG, DEVOL, CHARLES E. and KUO, CHEN-MENG

    A small family of mostly tropical ferns; rhizomes scandent, or long-creeping, scaly, fronds distant, articulate to phyllopodia; or the caudex short, erect, sending out a mass of fibrous roots and long, slender stolons (rhizomes), stipes tufted, stout, non-articulate. Fronds simple or pinnate; pinnae articulate to rachis, often caducous; venation free, once or twice forked. Sori round, dorsal or submarginal, borne on the end of a veinlet; indusia round or reniform, sinus usually narrow.

    Epiphytes with long widely twining rhizomes; scales opaque, often caducous; stipes distant, articulate to a short phyllopodium; c. s. of rhizome round with 2 bundles sorrounded by 2 contiguous sclerenchyma bands. Fronds pinnate, articulate to rachis; venation free, forking. Sori round in a single row between costa and margin, terminal on a veinlet; indusia round or reniform or fugacious.
    About twenty species,one in Taiwan.

    Scandent ferns with long twining rhizomes, 2 mm wide; scales pale brown at first, turning dark brown, narrowly linear, fimbriate, caducous. Stipes distant, articulate to a short phyllopodia of about 2mm long; c. s. of stipe nearly rectangular, containing one bundle; fronds pinnate, 15-30 cm long; pinnae articulate to rachis, sessile, auricled on adaxial side; lower pinnae shortend, deflexed; adaxial margin crenate, abaxial margin entire or undulate; rachis pubuscent on underside, hairs multicellular, of the ctenitis-type; venation free, forking, ending in hydathodes, short of the margin. Sori round, terminal on a veinlet, in one row nearer margin than costa; indusia brown, reniform.
    Distributed in Polynesia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, India and Africa.
