    Epiphytic herbs. Stems elongate, with many nodes, climbing or pendulous. Leaves distichous, oblong, coriaceous, articulated with sheath. Flowers few to many, in several short axillary racemes; sepals and petals widely spreading, oblanceolate or spatulate; lip adnate to base of column, spurred, with 3 lobes at opening of saccate or spurred base, lateral lobes usually small, erect, midlobe larger, thickened, often hairy, undivided or with 3 lobules, sac or spur often thickened on front wall near opening, with a pubescent tongue-like appendage projecting from back wall and covering opening; column without foot; anther terminal, opercular, incompletely 2-celled; pollinia 2, waxy, globose, divided into unequal halves, with long stipe and thin, and broad viscidium; stigma entire, concave; rostellum often vertically elongated below apex of anther, bifid at apex.

    About 60 species, southern China and the Himalaya, through the Asiatic tropics to the Philippines , Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. One species in Taiwan.
