  • Tipularia 蠅蘭屬

    Terrestrial herbs with underground corm-like pseudobulbs of few internodes. Leaves solitary, arising from top of pseudobulb, long petiolate, ovate, plicate. Peduncle erect, producing from upper node of pseudobulb, much longer than leaf, with few sheathing scales below, with many loosely racemose flowers above. Flowers resupinate; bract small, caducous; sepals and petals subequal, narrow, spreading, free; lip adnate to base of column, slenderly spurred, 3-lobed from base, lateral lobes erect, central lobe much longer; column erect, stout, shorter than sepals, slightly dilated at apex; anther terminal, operculate, with poorly developed cells; pollinia 4, waxy, 2 superposed pairs, compressed, attached to stipe ending in viscidium; stigma entire; rostellum short or obscure. Capsules pendulous.

    Five species; from the Himalaya and China to Japan, and discontinuously in North America (from Massachusetts to central Florida). One species in Taiwan.
