    Terrestrial herbs with fleshy ovoid or ellipsoid tuberoids. Stems erect, with many leaves near base or clustered at upper part, sheathing at base. Leaves usually lanceolate or oblong, sessile, decurrent at base into sheath. Inflorescence terminal, racemose or spicate, with many small flowers, pedicel and ovary ascending and close to rachis. Flowers greenish or nearly white; sepals free, connivent, dorsal one often connate with petals forming hood; petals often broader, entire; lip continuous to base of column, usually 3-lobed, base produced into short clavate or ovoid spur; column stout; anther erect, large, basally connate with column, cells nearly parallel or slightly divergent below, with auricles or staminodes on outer side, base not produced into distinct tube; pollinia 2, sectile, with short caudicle attaching to viscidium; stigma 2-lobed, lobes or stigmaphore clavate or pulvinate, firmly connate with edges of base of lip; rostellum small, usually hidden between anther cells, without distinct lateral arms; viscidia naked, not enclosed by bursicle.

    About 60 species, tropical and subtropical Asia and the Pacific islands, 4 species in Taiwan.
