    Epiphytic herbs. Stems tufted, slender, terete, rigid, surrounded by closely appressed tubular sheaths of leaf. Leaves well-spaced, terete, slender, articulated with sheath at base. Racemes lateral, few-flowered; rachis thickened. Flowers fleshy, perianth spreading; sepals free, similar, lateral ones often keeled; petals similar to sepals or +/- longer and narrower; lip sessile, from base of column, not movable, fleshy, base concave or shallowly saccate, usually 3-lobed, lateral lobes often erect, midlobee larger, often sulcate or grooved longitudinally, entire or with small lobules at apex; column thick, without foot; anther terminal, operculate; pollinia 2, waxy, subglobose, porate or short cleft, connected by elastic thread to broad stipe, viscidium perpendicular to stipe; stigma entire, broad, concave; rostellum broad.

    About 50 species, from Korea, Japan, the Ryukyus, through China, the Himalaya and southeast Asia, to Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia. Three species in Taiwan.
