  • Holcoglossum 撬唇蘭屬

    Epiphytic herbs. Stems usually covered by persistent leaf sheaths, bearing many distichous needlelike leaves. Leaves nearly terete, slightly sulcate on upper surface, articulated with sheath. Racemes axillary, few flowered; bracts shorter than pedicel and ovary. Flowers with spreading perianth; sepals subequal, lateral ones oblique; petals similar to sepals; lip sessile, spurred, 3-lobed, lateral lobes erect beside opening of spur, midlobe larger, spreading, flexible, with a wide sinus between base and lateral lobes, narrow at base, continuous with wall of spur, callose on disc; spur cylindrical, often curved; column footless, with small acute wings at apex; anther terminal, opercular, cucullate; pollinia 2, waxy, porate, attached by a narrow stipe to broad viscidium; stigma entire, rostellum bifid. Capsules cylindrical- fusiform.

    About eight species, southern China, Myanmar, Indochina to Thailand. One species in Taiwan.
