    Perrestrial herbs with ellipsoid tuberoids. Stems, stout, usually concealed by leaf, sheathed at base. Leaf solitary nearly radical, sessile, broadly ovate or cordate. Inflorescence terminal, loosely racemose; bracts persistent. Flowers resupinate, perianth widely spreading; sepals subequal, dorsal one usually erect and concave, lateral ones slightly oblique; petals ovate, forming hood with dorsal sepal; lip adnate to base of column, spreading, 3-lobed or nearly so, with trumpet-shaped spur at base; column stout; anther terminal, erect, basally connate with column, with broad connective, cells widely divergent below; pollinia 2, sectile, with broad caudicle and rounded viscidium; stigma unlobed, depressed in cavity under rostellum; rostellum conspicuous, roof shaped, protruding between anther cells, with folded lateral arms partly enclosing base of anther cells and viscidia; ovary nearly sessile, twisted.

    About eight species, mainly in the Himalaya, mountainous regions of China, northern India and Myanmar. One species in Taiwan.
