    Terrestrial herbs. Tuberoids ovoid or globose. Stems slender. Leaves 2 or more, scattered, sessile, usually cordate. Inflorescence terminal, with solitary or few flowers. Flowers resupinate or not; dorsal sepal connate to broad petals forming hood; lateral sepals spreading or reflexed, often connate at base, with short spur or sac near center; lip with narrow base adnate to base of column, confluent to column but suddenly bent backward on 3-parted blade; column contracted below; anther dorsal, attached to column by short filament, usually bent downward toward base of column; pollinia 2, sectile, with few distinct cuneiform massulae loosely packed, caudicle slender, attached to large viscidium; stigma 2-parted, located on each side of rostellum near base of long arm; rostellum erect, broad, extending on both sides into long tortuous arms holding viscidia at ends. Capsules fusiform.

    Species ca. 50, mainly in Africa, a few in tropical and subtropical Asia. One species in Taiwan.
